A Purpose-Built Campus Championing Inclusive Learning & Innovation

Designed and delivered by Vemi, the Bupa Campus in Melbourne is a flagship working space that reimagines learning and innovation through the lens of inclusion, sensory responsiveness, and brand-aligned design. Developed in close collaboration with healthcare provider Bupa, the campus sets a global benchmark for learning environments.

The project was driven by strategic engagement with stakeholders, ensuring Bupa’s values and the needs of its people were embedded from the outset. The resulting space accommodates a wide range of learning styles through a considered mix of high- and low-sensory settings: from quiet focus rooms with acoustic and lighting controls designed for rest and reflection, to vibrant, energising, open collaboration zones layered with bold materiality and expressive colour.

Sustainability and adaptability were key priorities, with over 50% of materials and furnishings reused or reupholstered. Operable walls and modular layouts were incorporated to allow the space to evolve over time without the need for major reconstruction. Key spatial elements including innovation zones, media lab, and breakout areas are intuitively arranged to support the natural rhythm of learning, promote wellbeing, and foster human connection.

Setting a new benchmark for inclusive design in the workplace sector, the Bupa Campus is more than a training facility, it’s a future-focused environment that blends functional performance with emotional resonance, designed to support Bupa’s people now and into the future.
